Day 3 – We are Hardly We

Dateline: Tuesday, July 22, Forest City

Lone RockThis was a long day, though the strong wind (out of the north-northwest) was mostly helpful in terms of traveling speed.

Nitwit Eric took advantage of the opportunity
to ride a century (108 miles as it turned out)
by adding the Karras Loop that you can see in the middle of the Day 3 map below.

Lone Rock was the more interesting of the two Loop Towns in Eric’s opinion, but Burt was unique in that it’s the only town where one might reasonably expect to see a toilet being tossed through the air. Eric @ Burt Toilet TossThe reason is a little unclear but Eric paid his dollar (donation to local charity) and managed about 13 feet–far short of a prize-winning distance but enough for a sticker.

The best tossing form was shown by a “Flamingo”, a costumed Ragbrai rider.

Women threw the lighter-weight  toilet tank lid (as opposed to the 40+ ? lb. toilet bowl) and she got excellent loft in her throw of 20 feet or more.
